Ruling Democrates per Andorra party loses its majority in elections for the General Council, winning eleven of the twenty-eight seats. The Social Democratic Party wins five seats. Democrates per Andorra will seek to form a coalition. Former interior minister Xavier Espot is expected to replace prime minister Antoni Marti.

Democrats for Andorra lose five seats, but maintain a majority, with fifteen seats of the twenty-eight on the General Council. Fourteen members of the council are elected in 7 parishes and the other fourteen in nationwide voting with proportional representation.

First constitution adopted, ending form of government in place since the 13th century. Country to become parliamentary co-principality (between France and Spain). It had been ruled jointly by the President of France and Spain's Bishop of Urgel.
