Final day of voting in three-day general election. Main candidates are Danny Faure, who took over when his predecessor, James Michel resigned in 2016, and Anglican priest Wavel Ramkalawan, of the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa party, running for the sixth time. He lost to Michel by only 193 votes in an unprecedented second round of voting in 2015. The United Seychelles Party has been in power since 1977. The economy is the biggest issue in the election, which has suffered a steep decline in tourism due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
